Positive parenting education

As a Centre we are committed to raising a Loving, supportive, responsible and forgive families, since we consider families as the smallest unit peace and development in a community. We therefore believe that raising loving, supportive, responsible and forgiving families, stronger family ties will be built, better mental health is realized.

Over 1000 parents have been trained and mentored on how to be consistent, patient, encouraging, non-violent, nurturing so as they supportive, caring, and encouraging while helping children learn and grow.

Over the decade, statistics show 45% reduction in domestic violence cases as well as child neglect cases in Awiodyek sub-county attributed to our intervention.

Economic Empowerment and Livelihoods

We believe in improved livelihoods of individuals which will greatly feed into family economic strengthening and the community.  We ensure there is mind-set change as the primary goal of achieving economic empowerment and improved livelihoods. We are more focused on: promoting women’s & children economic empowerment, sustainable household food security and increasing financial services access.

Over the past decade, Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) of Abutoadi CDC Farmers have been registered and functional. The main aim is to increase financial support to the community of Erute South. Currently, there are over 200 (with 90% women) active registered members with the total share capital of shillings 10,000,000, and membership contribution of Ugx 3.000.000. There has also been an improved saving’s culture of the members, with a testimony of boosted 40 women-led micro businesses.

We have also supported in the registration of 40 Village Savings and Loans Association groups, trained 1250 members on financial literacy. Currently in the process of creating saving accounts with the SACCO so to boost their financial growth. We project to partner with other financial institutions to meet the advance financial needs.

Practically trained 1000 smallholder farmers on Farming As A Business, GAAP and Climate Smart Agriculture. Supported in the establishment of over 200 kitchen gardens which in turn improved nutrition statues of the more 500 beneficiaries.

We have provided Start-up revolving capital to 320 parents/caregivers to a tune of shs. 160,000,000 (USD 44,400) from 2019 to 2023.

Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (NuWASH)

In lango sub-region, 50% of the population do not have access to clean water and 45% of the families do not have access to toilet systems.

Over a decade, our efforts were geared towards the Provision of safe drinking water and constructing water treatment tanks. Therefore, 10 boreholes were drilled in Abutoadi Parish which increased access to clean and safe drinking water to approximately 350 (40%) of the households.

Rehabilitating damaged water sources. Within a period of a decade, on average 10 water points were rehabilitated annually. Due to high population, the share ratio of water points is high, which reduces on the chance of durability of the water points.

Encouraging the establishment of clean and safe pit latrines at homes and schools focusing on girls. The project has been at the Centre stage of ensuring the households have access to improved toilet systems so to reduce on the probability of outbreak of cases brought in by poor sanitation.
