CoSPA 5: Cross cutting Issues

We consider, respond and support key issues which are cross cutting in the community diversely affecting programming. Among which include the following issues; –

3.1: HIV/ AIDs

We support 85 caregivers and participants to access better medical services. Additionally, the caregivers and participants are also supported on monthly basis with food supplements to boost their nutritional statuses.

The caregivers have also been supported to register and formalized, who are have been supported with a start-up capital of USD 2,400 to establish a poultry unit with a holding a capacity of 300 chicken.

3.2: Climate Change Adaptation

As an organization, we are aware climate change is real. We take seriously actions that help reduce vulnerability to the current or expected impacts of climate change like weather extremes and hazards, sea-level rise, biodiversity loss, or food and water insecurity.

For the past three (3) years, we have built the capacities of 200 caregivers to adopt Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) interventions. Abutoadi CDC in partnership with Agrisol Africa Limited with funding from AlphaMundi trained 200 caregivers to produce organic fertilizers from the locally available materials. This was less costly to produce with limited adverse effect in the soil, which also improved the soil fertility as opposed inorganic fertilizers. We plan to upscale this intervention to the other small-scale farmers.

We intend also explore other interventions such as tree planting, climate smart cooking technologies, irrigation systems and organic pest management approaches.

3.3 Gender Equality and diversity

Our programming is engrossed greatly on ensuring we achieve gender equality and diversity. In our programming, we focus more on supporting People with Disabilities (PWDs) and very vulnerable. More focus is also on empowering female children, youth and women.
